Product Description

Where and how to catch the biggest fish in a state with a surprising amount of waterfront. Oklahoma Sportfishing is the first and only fishing guide to some 51 lake, reservoir, and stream destinations in Oklahoma. Gifford covers casting, fly fishing, and spin fishing in pursuit of 12 popular species of fish, including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, striped bass, hybrid striped bass, trout, bluegill, catfish, and carp. The heart of the book is its descriptions of dozens of destinations—including directions, special fee or permit requirements, specific seasonal information, and other inside tips. Gifford, a veteran of 30 years of Oklahoma fishing, shares his intimate knowledge and tips for fishing a region where success can mean catching a trophy bass, or landing an elusive trout on a remote mountain stream. 30 black and white photographs, 45 maps, index. • Oklahoma bass fishing draws large crowds from Texas and elsewhere. • Conservation efforts mean fishing continues to improve in Oklahoma. • Unique, detailed book with no competition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oklahoma Sport Fishing by John Allen Gifford, May 13, 2003
By William Tharp (OKC,OK.USA) - See all my reviews
I'm very happy with my copy of Oklahoma Sport Fishing by John Gifford. I'm an avid bass angler and refer to Mr. Giffords book before each trip to the lake.
Mr. Gifford does a great job detailing how to fish for multiple species of fish throughout the seasons in Oklahoma lakes. Even though the book is written about Oklahoma lakes, the tactics could be helpful to anglers in other states with similar lakes and species.
Besides being very informative to fishermen, Mr. Gifford's story telling style is very entertaining! I read the book cover to cover and now use it time and again to prepare lake to lake, season to season. My fishing has improved noticeably since reading Oklahoma Sport Fishing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gifford's Fish-Finding Magic, December 22, 2003
By Craig M. Wise (Midwest City, Oklahoma United States) - See all my reviews
John Gifford's book Oklahoma Sport Fishing is a masterpiece
of quality writing combined with first-hand accounts of where to find fish and how to catch them in the rivers and the streams
of Oklahoma.
Our family takes the book as an indispensible item on every
fishing trip, and we've never been disappointed with the results.
Gifford not only tells you where to fish and how to get there
but also what to fish with and when the best times are. From big lakes to small streams and everything in between, this book goes to the heart of what modern-day, ecologically conscientious sport
fishing is all about. Fishing with spinning tackle, flying fishing
sitting on the bank with a cane pole, whatever kind of fishing
an angler enjoys, they are all discussed in the brillant little handbook that targets the seasons as well as the variety of sport
fish that can be located and captured with pleasure within the
borders of the state of Oklahoma. Don't leave home without Gifford's fishing secrets.
