5.0 out of 5 stars The most important book of my life, February 2, 2000
By A Customer
This book quite simply changed my life. I was in clinical depression, reeling from an experience of being both emotionally shattered and essentially losing the bulk of my religious faith, and I picked up this book and became a new person. Never have I read such a powerful, moving, poignant, and spiritual treatise on life, love, relationships, and God's love for all people. No barriers, no boundaries--this book was written out of Love, is written about Love, and is indeed Love. The Christian message of unconditional love for everyone, regardless of any circumstances, shines through as an earnest beacon of light to let you know you are loved--by both human beings and by God. Father Powell should be canonized for his masterpiece. Turn a page and discover his (and His) magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book can help anyone, June 23, 2000
By A Customer
Many years ago, my father read this book, and viewed it as the most important book he ever read in his life. I, however, did not listen to him. I was a young scientist who knew all too well the pain caused by organized religion, and I wanted no part of anything even remotely related to the catholic church, much less something written by a priest. I didn't even believe in God for many years. After going through a particularily difficult time and growing up a bit, I agreed to read this book, but mostly as a favor to my father. I thought it would help strengthen our relationship. I never anticipated it would help me build my own relationship with God. I never anticipated it would give me a whole new way of thinking. This book speaks to the heart. I guess Father knows best.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful exploration of the meaning of life and love., July 25, 1999
By A Customer
John Powell's masterpiece is rich in personal experience, stories, scripture and psychological insight. He blends these strands together in a beautiful declaration of unconditional love as the foundation of human fullfillment and the prerequisite for spiritual growth.
