Welcome!
Have you ever wondered what is the essence of this elusive, intriguing, tantalizing concept called "story?"
"The world is shaped by two things -- stories told and the memories they leave behind." -- from Dreams of the Compass Rose
Consider the above quote from my first novel. Deceptively simple, and yet... spooky, if you think about it.
The world really is a direct product of stories told (news, interpersonal communication, the media, social interaction, people relating personal news and gossip, interpreting historical events and being eyewitnesses to history taking place here and now) and the memories they leave behind (the way we remember all the political, social, moral, spiritual, scientific, and entertaining things we are bombarded with in the media, the impressions of what we learn in school, from others, from just experiencing day-to-day living).
So, if you think about it, the role of the archetypal storyteller (in this case any one of us when we convey information) is the most powerful position ever.
We as storytellers have the means to influence the way things are done, remembered, planned, and envisioned for the future. We inspire change, progress, social reform -- everything!
We are all storytellers.
Isn't that amazing to think about? The immense creative power of the words that we speak is at our disposal...
Listen to me speak more on this subject, as I read a brief 5-minute excerpt from Dreams of the Compass Rose.
Glad to have this chance to share my thoughts with you, my friends.
Cheers,
