Product Description
Unlike many other sasquatch books on the market, this book takes a calm, scientific view of the creature. Dr Krantz examines data that cannot be discounted as fakes, mistakes, hoaxes or lies. Information offered for scrutinisation includes frames of Patterson's 1967 film, a number of footprint events, the problems of faking and anatomies of handprints. Krantz also presents support for his opinion that sasquatch is a normal animal species -- a higher primate related to man and the great apes. An addendum provides readers with the most up-to-date developments in the field. This authoritative publication is sure to stimulate discussion and interest within both the general public and the scientific community.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scientist examines evidence for Sasquatch existence, April 27, 2000
By A Customer
Dr Grover Krantz, a Physical Anthropologist examines the objective evidence for the existence of the Sasquatch. This book was previously published in the early 1990's as "Big Foot Prints". This new edition is updated with the latest developments in this field. Among the evidence examined is the 1967 Roger Patterson film, the 1970 Bossburg cripple prints, the dermal ridge prints found by a U.S. Forestry worker in the 1980's. Dr. Krantz analyzes the objective physical evidence and also compares the physical description of the Sasquatch with Hominds known from the fossil record. Dr Kranz presents a strong case for G. Blacki as being the mostly likely match for the present day Sasquatch. There have been many books on this subject from lay persons, however this book is written by a leading Scientist and deals with facts and presents a levelheaded view of this subject. There is a fair amount of technical information however it is presented in a fashion that a lay person can easily understand. Several of Dr Krantz's published papers are in the appendix, these were originally published in academic anthropology publications. Dr Krantz has been studying this subject since the 1960's, when it was academic and scientific suicide to publicly express serious interest in this subject. He has pioneered the way for the later Scientists to investigate this subject without the censure he was subjected to in the 1970's and 1980's. Today it is considered acceptable to study cryptozoologic animals, however this has not always been the case. Dr. Krantz states that he believes the only way to settle this subject is for a physical specimen (a type speciment-that can be studied by Scientists). It is likely when this happens that the Sasquatch will then be declared an endangered species. Based on the known information, the Sasquatch is extremely shy, nocturnal, and is usually in densely forested areas. This may be one reason why there has not been a specimen taken to date. It is likely as more Scientists are involved in this investigation and lay persons that the proof of existence will be forthcoming. The reports have been occuring for hundreds of years and the physical descriptions are all remarkably similar. This animal has been sighted by police officers, clergy, military personnel, hunters and other credible witnesses. It is hard to read this volume and not be convinced that there is a strong case for the existence of this animal.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have book, March 14, 2005
By Lisa Shiel "Bigfoot researcher / author of 'T... (Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan, United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Whether you're new to the Bigfoot mystery or an old hand, this book explains everything you need to know about the best evidence for Bigfoot's existence, the footprints these creatures leave behind. Krantz covers every angle on footprints, from dermal ridges to deformities and depth of impression. His section on the Patterson film presents solid, scientific evidence that the creature filmed is real. While quite technical, this book provides an excellent overview of the topic. If this book can't convince you of Bigfoot's existence, nothing will!

5.0 out of 5 stars An in depth investigation, May 13, 2004
By "andycrazybear" (Lakewood, Colorado United States) - See all my reviews
This book goes into great detail on many bigfoot topics from the Patterson film to the study of tracks. It's so in depth that it actually got slightly boring at times, however the information is top-notch. If you really want to understand the evidence out there, read this book.
