A superb integration of theory, research, and practical application. This volume sets a new standard of excellence. Quenk, Ph.D., co-author of The Manual: A Guide to the Development and Use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

Developing Leaders contains 17 papers by 19 contributors with impressive credentials. Each paper can stand along, though they complement each other. They include new analyses of the functions of MBTI and type dynamics, particularly with other instruments. -- Bulletin of Psychological Type, Summer 1997

Developing Leaders provides cutting edge information, ideas, and application on the MBTI and leadership. It gives important insights into such critical topics as MBTI and midlife, the link with the 360-degree feedback instruments, and strategies for helping executives deal with organizational change. -- Patricia Stocker, Ph.D., Associate Dean and Director of Executive Programs, Maryland Business School, University of Maryland

Drawing on the best of the MBTI research, Fitzgerald and Kirby have given us an excellent tool. Developing Leaders is thought provoking and rewarding. An excellent book! -- William Bridges, author of Managing Transitions and Jobshift

Product Description

An essential reference for professionals in organizational psychology, management, and human resources, the 17 chapters collected in Developing Leaders provide accessible, reliable information on how the MBTI personality inventory can be used in leadership and management development.

Bringing together the latest research and applications from the leading researchers and practitioners in the field, this volume provides a literature review, shows how the MBTI can be used with other assessment instruments to evaluate leadership style, offers current information on psychological type distribution among management groups, illustrates the connections between type and decision-making styles, and demonstrates how the MBTI can be used by executive coaches and trainers. Specific chapters discuss the correlation between MBTI scales and other commonly used instruments, show how the MBTI can be used to improve communications, apply the dynamics of type development to leadership development, and illustrate the connections between psychological type and feedback, transition management, problem-solving styles, and strategic planning.

5.0 out of 5 stars In-Depth Information, April 10, 2006
By Debra Howard (Vermont USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I found this book fascinating and very helpful to my practice as an executive coach. I was qualified in the MBTI in October 2005, and was hungry for more information about how to apply it in a business setting. This book has the most targeted, in-depth information I've found yet. It's immediately applicable. A perfect book for people who want to go deeper with the MBTI.
