Every parent and professional should have this book..., January 4, 2002
Dr. Silverman covers all the issues that our gifted children bring to us, in Counseling... I have two profoundly gifted children, and I wish I read this book sooner - it helps SO much in my understanding of them, of what they are going through. We, as parents, are our children's first counselor, and this book makes it so much easier for us to "do the job" for our gifted children.Characteristics of giftedness, emotional aspects, over-excitabilities, special needs, peers, home, school, even multi-cultural and gender issues are dealt with in this comprehensive volume. And every counselor, psychologist, and other professional who deals with gifted children shoudl read this book, and keep it as reference on their shelf... close at hand. Mine is full of post-it flags... in my library, that says it all.
