Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Now that one of Barbie's fancier outfits could cost the equivalent of half a mortgage payment, it's time to emulate Casey and--glue? Yes, hot or cold, adhesive works wonders on homemade doll clothes, eliminating virtually all wear and tear on the sewing machine. Instead, rummage and remnants, and worn-outs and outdateds, all become the materials for luxury gowns and skimpy rompers. Every one of the 65 items, from boots to hats, is illustrated in full color, and further documented by a few words about the proper places to snip and cement. A one-trick pony with infinite adaptations. Barbara Jacobs

3.0 out of 5 stars NO SEWING NEEDED AND THE CLOTHES LOOK IT., April 9, 1999
By A Customer
OUTFITS ARE CUT AND GLUED FROM FOUND OBJECTS LIKE SOCKS AND SWEATERS. THESE MAY BE GOOD CLOTHES TO MAKE FOR BEGINNERS OR KIDS DRESSING DOLLS FOR THE FIRST TIME, BUT THE TITLE IS DECEPTIVE FOR PROFESSIONAL SEWERS LIKE ME. IF YOU'VE NEVER SEWED, BUT WANT TO DRESS YOUR CHILD'S FASHION DOLL, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a hoot!, January 30, 2002
By A Customer
I'm not much into sewing but I have been wanting to "create" some fashions for my dolls. This book gave me a lot of ideas. The gluing part takes some practice, but she sure did have a lot of ideas of how to make clothes out of socks, neckties, doilies, scarves, fake flowers, etc. She covers accessories too, like hats and shoes. Some of the outfits are really wild, but the whole idea was fascinating to me. It was a fun book to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wildly imaginative designer clothes, April 14, 1999
By A Customer
Tina's newest book is filled with wildly imaginative and artistic clothes that really could be prototypes for dress designs for the stars, and no sewing is required! Each dress is startlingly unique and comes with its own hilarious quote from a movie. The accompanying text is so funny that I was soon rolling with laughter. The sheer volume of creativity in this book is intoxicating!
