3.0 out of 5 stars Most useful for those just learning about nutrition, April 17, 2006
If you are not currently practicing a whole foods diet and want more information on why you should, this could be a good resource. If you already practice a whole foods diet this book is probably not for you.

The book covers a lot of topics (pesticides, hormones, bacterial contamination, food irradiation, and chemical additives to name a few) some of them in more detail than others. This book did not present any new information for me, but I have been studying nutrition for about 9 years. If I had found this book at the beginning of my journey for nutritional knowledge it would have been helpful to point me in the right direction.

On the positive side, this book is approximately twenty five percent recipes. The Oat Nut Crust in the dessert section of the book is actually quite good. I prepared the crust with 100% whole-wheat flour and it came out fine.

Overall, if you are new to nutrition and/or whole foods this might be worth a read. If you have other books on whole foods or nutrition I would recommend passing on this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars same old same old, October 9, 2005
This book has the same old information you have already heard. I really did not like this book. It had several items that are false in it, like gorillas eat meat, which they do not. It has lots of negative information on various foods but offers no suggestions on where to buy an alternative product. I just do not see the point of adding this book to your library or collection. No new information whatsoever.

5.0 out of 5 stars The whole food bible, December 6, 2005
A Kid's Review
I really liked this book because it informs people about each food group and their importance in nutrition but above all is an eye opener for those who have never being exposed to the concept of whole food and the importance to partake in the betterment of our agriculture and how does the multiple pesticides and fungides affects the nutritional value of our foods. It encourages people to take a good look at what they are putting in their mouths and make them aware that going organic is the safest way to go. We need to support the organic nmovement for the sake of our present health status and generations to come.
