SUPERB COLLECTION OF INFORMATION ON OXYGEN THERAPIES, November 16, 2001
If you are going to buy one book on Hydrogen Peroxide or Ozone therapies, I recommend this one instead of William Douglass' book, "Hydrogen Peroxide, Modern Miracle". Though Dr. Douglass is a true pioneer in this field, his book is not as polished as I would like it to be. This book is organized well and written beautifully. It includes information on other holistic techniques that should be combined with oxygen therapies for successful healing.Currently, I have had 17 of a series of 20 (1x/weekly) hydrogen peroxide IVs. I had no symptoms until #10; I didn't feel good until after #16. Apparently, my "die-off" symptoms are considered to be severe. Most people have few, if any symptoms. Perhaps, some folks will worry when die off symptoms result, falsely believing it is the treatment making them sick. This isn't the case. It is the organisms you don't want in your body dying and flooding the blood stream causing the symptoms. It is a temporary situation. The oxygen further aids the body by helping to quickly transport these dead bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. once they do enter the bloodstream. One manual I read said to be grateful for this. Symptoms lasting longer than two weeks may indicate the person either has a disease or would have ended up with one shortly. My symptoms felt like the flu. Other people mention feeling fatigued. I continue the IVs and have begun taking Hydroxygen Plus by mouth (which must be done gradually). I am starting to feel healthy and clear in my sinuses, bronchial tubes, ears and even in the brain. The ripples on my fingernails disappeared immediately and I no longer have allergies. It remains to be seen if my other problems clear up after the 20th. It may be that the people who don't get results are giving up too quickly. This book explains very clearly how the oxygen therapies work. The list of resources in the back is extremely helpful. I speak firsthand, since I am undergoing hydrogen peroxide treatments. This book is excellent.

New Dimensions in Healing, February 27, 2003
This revised and expanded edition includes all the new research, information and developments in oxygen healing therapies since the first edition in 1995. It is a well-written consumer guide to bio-oxidative therapies that highlights the therapeutic benefits of hydrogen peroxide and ozone and the methods in which they are used. The good news is that these therapies promise to bring relief to millions because the substances are inexpensive and affordable. What's more, they have very few adverse effects when correctly administered. The difference between oxidation (free radical activity) and oxygenation (increase in oxygen molecules) is made clear at the start. The clinical use of ozone and hydrogen peroxide has been amply documented in medical literature, yet ignored by the medical mainstream. At last its value is being discovered by a growing number of health-wise consumers. These two substances hold great promise for the treatment of some of the major diseases confronting humanity and they form part of a new healing paradigm involving safe, effective, inexpensive and natural forms of therapy. In the first part the author explains what these therapies are and takes a closer look at first ozone and then hydrogen peroxide. Part Two discusses bio-oxidative therapies in cardiovascular and other diseases and conditions (from Allergies to Wound Healing) as well as cancer and HIV/AIDS. A holistic protocol is provided in Part Three, which includes body cleansing, an oxygenation diet, nutritional supplements & healing herbs, aerobic exercise & breathing, emotions, mind & spirit, plus a discussion of oxygen products, services and applications. Ozone generators, air purifiers, ozonated drinking water, oxygenated bottled waters, oxygenation products and the use of hydrogen peroxide in the kitchen and garden are detailed here. The Resources section includes Internet addresses, organizations in North America and Europe, publications, manufacturers and distributors of products, videos and books. The bibliography covers books on bio-oxidative therapies, on natural and complementary therapies, plus general books on holistic health. There are also extensive Notes to the chapters and an index. Tables and figures, including a model of how a virus is inactivated by ozone and a photograph of a portable ozone generator, illustrate the text. The chapter on herbs and supplements includes interesting information on inter alia Beta Carotene, the vitamins, Coenzyme Q10, trace elements, minerals, Echinacea, garlic, Gingko Biloba and green tea. Under Mind-Body Healing the author discusses psycho-neuro-immunology, how to nurture the emotions, mind and spirit and the use of creative visualization. This excellent book certainly makes a point: that the proven safety, effectiveness and medical applications of hp and oxygen warrant far more attention than they have been receiving from the press and the medical and scientific communities. Fortunately these therapies are in use in clinics and hospitals in certain countries like Germany and this knowledge is spreading. In an age of increasing medical costs and complex medical procedures, many health-care consumers are looking for safe and effective therapies that will naturally enhance their innate healing powers. The author has done an excellent job of stimulating discussion by presenting the facts of these therapies, thereby giving consumers the necessary information to make informed and intelligent decisions regarding health-care options. I strongly recommend this book to all who have decided to take responsibility for their own health.

Some good ideas, some bad science, May 12, 2003
When I studied genetics in college, the professor walked into class at the end of the semester, and announced that he was going to lecture on the last chapter after all.
"I was going to skip this chapter," he said, "but the way in which it was written was SO irritating to me, that I decided to cover it anyway."
I feel a little like that at the moment. This book covers an interesting area of alternative medical therapy. There's a lot of good in this area, and there's much less potential for harm than in many such areas.
But there's also some very bad science in this book. For example -- and I choose this one because you can look it up in the sample pages -- the author wants to you believe that there is proportionally three times as much Oxygen in dirt than in the air.
The author further claims that approximately two-thirds of your body is Oxygen. (In fact, there are more than twice as many Hydrogen atoms in your body than Oxygen -- I did mention that I'm a biologist, didn't I?)
What irritates me most is the author's sweeping claim that ALL cancer cells are "anaerobic." ALL of them, no matter what kind of cancer. And not merely microaerophilic (can get by on limited oxygen): this author believes that cancer cells never use any oxygen at all. NOBODY can make human cells of any kind live or grow without oxygen -- not even authors who convinced a friend to suggest his name to the Nobel prize committee.
Furthermore, the author completely neglects the difference between an obligate anaerobe ("dies in the presence of oxygen") and facultative aerobes ("can use oxygen, or not, depending on its availability"). That a cell need not use oxygen as its primary respiratory source does not mean that the cell will necessarily die in the presence of oxygen. Normal muscle cells are a good example of this phenomenon; marathon runners are sore the next day because of the byproducts of anaerobic metabolism in muscle cells. But the muscles don't die when sufficient oxygen is restored to them. But this is his position on cancer: just get a reasonable amount of oxygen into your body, and those cancer cells will all fall over dead. (If only it were that easy.)
And so on, throughout much of the book.
But the fact that his theory is weak doesn't mean that every practical recommendation is wrong. There are a few things that I wouldn't touch if you paid me, and quite a lot that is significant overreach, but others might be helpful and more are at least harmless. My point is merely that the theoretical basis is really quite inaccurate.
So if you will promise not to believe the theoretical underpinnings, then you might get some useful information out of this book. In short, you should use your COMMON SENSE with this book -- just like you would for anything else related to your health.
P.S. Ozone, by the way, is NOT "energized oxygen"; it's three Oxygen molecules unstably and briefly linked together (O3 for short). Your cells CAN NOT directly use O3 for metabolic purposes. You MUST have O2 (normal oxygen gas) for that purpose.
But don't worry: O3 readily degrades into normal/useful O2, plus a single Oxygen free radical (but not usually enough of it to do you any real harm before it reacts with something else into a stable state).
