Product Description

This beginner's guide to the sport that captivates over 60 million Americans teaches kids to read the water, bait a hook, and cast a line. Packaged with each book is a plastic tackle box with 30-feet of yellow 6-lb. test monofilament line, 3 sinkers, 3 hooks, 1 plummet weight, 1 snap-swivel and 1 red-and-white bobber.

From the Back Cover

CLINCH KNOTS TO BASS BUGS

Here is the introductory book to the oldest unofficial club in the world. Learn how to tie knots, judge water depth, choose the right tackle, attach a bobber-and most important-know when you've got a bite and what to do about it. Complete with hook, line, and sinker, THE KIDS' BOOK OF FISHING passes down such lore as the habits and habitats of freshwater fish; when to use live bait and when to try lures; how to be environmentally responsible-even how to skip stones when the fish are just not biting.

THE KIDS' TACKLEBOX

The Bobber: It not only keeps your bait off the bottom, but tells you when you have a bite.

The Line: This fluorescent monofilament is light, sturdy, and easy to spot-for you, not the fish.

The Hooks: Use one of the #6 hooks when you're going after sunfish or perch; save the #1/0 for the big ones; add a lure using the swivel.

The Sinkers: Attach one or more, depending on the current. Use the plummet to find the water's depth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for adults too that think fishing is yucky!, February 8, 2002
By A Customer
This book talks about the fact that fish have no pain and it explains why. I always wondered about that, but you don't want to appear too dumb and ask. This book is great explaining hooks and types of hooks. How to clean the fish and it also tells you how to make lures. A cute book for any beginner.
