I have read both available books in this new (to us) series. The fact that it is a close copy of the Sharpe series is not a bad thing. From the first two examples i look forward to another 10 or so....

Another mess Markham is in through the misguided prejudicial behavior of his superiors after the "cowardice" of his younger life. the Corsican countryside is a struggle for the laanguage and the thick woods he must take his men through. The Beautiful raven-haired resistance leader is too good to pass up...but will she succomb to his charms? or put her knife in his stomach? and will the French invaders succeed through the hot summer? It's still hard to believe the British troops wore those heavy red coats in hot weather. A good fast read with our hero trying to redeem his honour.

I don't recoment this series because it was abruptly cut off after just three books and in the last one at the end he is basically disowned by his admiral and that's how the book ended and no more since 2000 have been writen, so save yourself disapointment and don't waste your time on a guy with reall guts who gets shafted every time he turns around.
