Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This second book in The Labyrinth Trilogy is a classic work on neo- shamanism. E. .J. Gold penetrates the secrets of traditional esoteric practice--particularly alchemy, shamanism, and mysticism--and he presents techniques for expanded perception and attention that work in everyday contemporary life. Beyond introductory, the book is demanding in its vocabulary, its concepts, and its iconoclastic humor.

From the Publisher
From the Editor's Introduction: "It takes a long time to develop vision, but with proper training and a solid conceptual framework one can learn to see in new categories. It is my hope that this book can provide some of the tools which I have found useful in obtaining a beginning grasp of the labyrinth, that you may benefit from the truth--which leaves me not at peace, as I had imagined, but in even greater turmoil--which I have at last found."--Linda Corriveau

5.0 out of 5 stars a sharp look at human affairs, October 26, 2006
By Slingshot (Northern California) - See all my reviews
This book is a tour-de-force through the human condition.
It gave me many insights into areas I always wondered, like: is a totempole a merely decorative object or has it a ritual function? Or: What is the job of a shaman? What is the spiritual function of love?
As a matter of fact, this book is filled to the brim with thought-provoking ideas, unusual facts and slightly different views of the world, which open up not only vast areas of discussion, but give actual hints of how you may read spiritual classics like Rumi, Gurdjieff, the Bible, the Koran or the Bhagavadgita with new eyes and a different perspective.
Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Look Into Shamanism, Transformation, Work in the Real World, January 24, 2007
Although I would recommend getting your feet wet with the first of this trilogy which is the Human Biological Machine as a Transformational Apparatus-this is definitely the next step toward higher dimensional mapping. EJ Gold tells it like it is in terms of your responsibility in taking hold of your life and he does this in ways which may make use of the "dictionary" so be aware. It is not what I would call light reading in any respect of the term. This book is an experience to be read again and again like all of the books by this author are, in my opinion.
Bon Voyage!

1.0 out of 5 stars this man is a destructive guru, October 11, 2006
please just see past the overblown language and pomp and theater in this man's books to the heartless path that is this man's life work...this is a labyrinth with nearly no way out but madness and despair...it is a bleak and barren landscape--entirely gray, not gold. steer clear.
