Editorial Reviews

Review

The 21 Chapters cover the whole range of techniques, with enough detail about the physical and technical background to satisfy and enable the critical user without swamping him or her; all illustrated with a wide range of cutting-edge applications...The book closes with a valuable series of appendices (acronyms, mass and abundance values, fragmentation patterns etc)...there is no lightweight material or padding in this important and timely book-The European Peptide Society Newsletter

"...useful to newcomers." - SGM Quarterly

When the editor, John Chapman, asked me to write the introductory chapter to this volume and told me that it would be dedicated to the late Michael "Mickey" Barber, I felt very honored and also humbled because I have always considered Mickey to be one of the most outstanding pioneers in the field of mass spectrometry (MS) of proteins. Read the first page

4.0 out of 5 stars A good hand-book on protein analysis by MS, April 21, 2000
By Stéphane Hourdez (Station Biologique, Roscoff, France) - See all my reviews
"Protein and Peptide Analysis by Mass Spectrometry" is a very good handbook for beginners, as well as experienced people. It is written by some of the best world specialists in the field. Volume 61 of the famous "Methods in Molecular Biology" series, it is built on the usual format: Introduction, Materials, Methods and Notes. Very clear and very practical, this up-to-date book should content most people interested in protein analysis.
