Review

". . . a greatly entertaining book for collectors of Americana, nostalgia lovers, and enthusiast of popular cultural memorabilia." -- The Bookwatch

"A delightful coffee-table book and a fine source of information on a pervasive cultural phenomenon." -- Booklist

Product Description

From its evolution as a miracle medicine to its prominent role in the refreshment industry, soda pop has become a daily staple and international commodity. Soda Pop! presents the history of the explosive growth of soda pop around the world, "pop culture," and the huge popularity of collectible soda pop memorabilia.

Soda Pop! is filled with more than 120 eye-popping photos of soda pop collectibles and valuable memorabilia--as well as of classic drive-in restaurants, gas stations, soda fountains, and more--that illustrate the prominent place soda pop has held in American culture since the turn of the century.

This fun retrospective also reveals believe-it-or-not stories, anecdotes, and little-known facts about soda pop's origins as mineral water, the bottling process, and the rise of soda brands such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Moxie, Dr Pepper, 7Up, and more.

Also recommended: The Complete Cow, Harley-Davidson Collectibles, This Old Tractor.

Town Square Books from Voyageur Press provide entertaining, in-depth coverage of popular cultural icons, collectibles, nostalgia, and Americana. Town Square Books have an appealing balance of lively text, crisp full-color photography, and careful reproduction of rare archival material.

Michael Karl Witzel is an expert on Americana; he is the author of several books devoted to the genre: The American Gas Station, The American Drive-In, Route 66 Remembered, and Gas Station Memories. Gyvel Young-Witzel is his wife and ace researcher.
