The collection of elk-hunting stories is excellent to read, and the accompanying photographs are truly breathtaking. Showcased here are the works of natural history photographers Daniel J. Cox, Gerry Ellis, Erwin and Peggy Bauer, Michael H. Francis, and Art Wolf. The 95 color and 7 black-and-white photographs capture the images of the four existing elk subspecies: Tule, or dwarf elk; Manitoban, or Plains elk; Roosevelt, or Olympic elk; and Rocky Mountain elk. A colorful, graphic, large-format volume that will be appreciated by both hunters and wildlife enthusiasts.
