Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The Fly-Fishing guide to the Great Smoky Mountains does more than any other book in print to bring success to a fishing trip. This landmark volume is an essential guide for anyone planning to fish the rivers, streams, and lakes in the Smokies - these fisheries are some of the greatest in the nation. For successful fly-fishing, this guide is as important as the right tackle.

The fist half of this guide offers advice and history. The second half examines each of the thirteen watersheds found within the park. Don Kirk provides information about trail access, fishing pressure and quality, species, fly hatch information, and campsite availability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing but raves, December 15, 2002
By A Customer
An earlier review stated that this book was too old. I did not find that to be the case. Mr. Kirk's understanding of the lay of the land still applies and helped me immensely. As many people know who fish regularly and often, streams and rivers change and rechange. The book tells about enough places that any fisherman could find fun, enjoyment and plenty of fish. The book was enjoyable to read, not stale or boring. His style is easy going and he gives you the confidence to take off on an adventure to the Smokeys or to any place a fisherman would enjoy fly fishing. I recommend it for the novice or expert fly fisherman!! I have read it and I have bought copies for my sons. Enjoy!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book on fly-fishing the Great Smoky Mountains NP, May 5, 1998
By A Customer
This is a well-written book that covers its subject well. My only criticism is that the same material is covered in Don Kirk's "Smoky Mountain Trout Fishing Guide." This book entails a few items not covered in his first book, but a lot of the subject matter has already been covered. This is a fine book and I highly reccomend it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource for any fishermen traveling to the Smokies, February 17, 1998
By Mark Rasnake (Knoxville, Tennessee) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book has provided me with a great deal of useful information on fishing in the park. It covers everything from streams to fish in, patterns to use, and the aesthetics of the area you will fish in. Kirk has done a fine job of rating the relative merits of each of the streams and rivers in the park. His history of the area adds to the experience of fishing these waters. This book is a must for anyone wanting to fish the Smokies.
