4.0 out of 5 stars How to Lower Your Fat Thermostat, February 17, 2000
By A Customer
My husband and I had much success with this book. The eating program outlined was simple to follow and the results were confirmed with our doctor. This program really does set your body up to burn off excess weight when followed as written. As always, see your doctor first if you are going to initiate a agressive weightloss program.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely, positively THE book when it comes... , November 10, 2007
By Reeseman0 (Planet Earth) - See all my reviews
This is, without a doubt, the only book a person need own if they've had a history of struggling to lose or maintain weight through endless dieting and/or starvation.

The author meticulously lays out ~ in a logical and concise way ~ the process through which the body stores certain foods and metabolism is affected. It becomes crystal clear, to even the most thickheaded readers, that starving/depriving oneself of food is entirely counterproductive to weight loss or maintenance.

I worked in the fitness industry in Atlanta for more than ten years, primarily as an aerobics instructor. I taught, on average, anywhere from 10-15, 90-minute classes a week, every week for the entire decade. I would often travel from one end of the city to the other, teaching corporate classes at Georgia Pacific, CNN Center and Southern Bell. I also had classes at Georgia Tech and Jeanne's Body Tech.

"How to Lower Your Fat Thermostat" was more or less the bible we followed in helping students who were anorexic, bulimic or both. It was amazing to me to discover just how many people ~ particularly those who worked out several times each week, thus, I figured should have known better ~ truly believed the only way to lose weight was by NOT eating.

This book is invaluable to anyone who struggles with this issue. After all, everybody HAS to eat, right? It also showed me how I could basically eat anything I wanted, especially given the fact my metabolism was so revved up all the time from all the cardio I was doing.

One thing I noticed then and today is that when a person exercises regularly and gets enough sleep, the body will generally crave foods that are inherently good for you. I was fortunate that my body was so fine-tuned in those days, it would literally instruct me to, say, crave broccoli or kiwi fruit, depending on what my system needed most.

Finally, given the rock bottom prices one can purchase the book for today, you'd be nuts not to pick up a copy. Hmm, nuts. Cashews, anyone?

I read this book and used it's method of weitht loss over ten years ago, and I kept the weight off. It works.
