Editorial Reviews

Review

A must for Great Lakes boaters, this book is like having your very own port captain traveling with you to help, advise and educate you at every port. Lake Erie's shallow waters can easily wreak havoc on the unwary, so having this local knowledge at your fingertips can make your cruise much more enjoyable and certainly safer. -- THE ENSIGN, January 1996

This book covers every port-of-call in Lake Erie from Vermilion west including Michigan, Canada and the Islands. Also included is a brief history of each area. It's design and format make it easy to use. -- INLAND SEAS, winter 1994 edition

Product Description

Every port-of-call in Western Lake Erie is covered in great detail including an aerial photo and chart of each. Some of the charts had to be hand drawn by the authors as no detailed government chart existed. Another feature of this book that sets it apart from other guidebooks is the very interesting history of each port that it contains. Everything that the boater (or any visitor) needs to know is located in a detailed, easy to use manner: restaurants, stores, historical sights, points of interest and marinas offering guest dockage.

I think any boater who wants to preview the Western Lake Erie area, including the islands, will find this book a real treasure. The narrative and annotated photos of harbors are excellent. This may not be the best source for finding a restaurant or tavern, but it's superb for providing familiarity with the approaches to harbors.
