This book is written by Dr. Richard Cromie, a well known Presbyterian minister and Dr. Melanie Bone, an OBGYN and breast cancer survivor. Cancer patients as well as their friends and families, will richly benefit from the spiritual, professional and personal guidance offered in this remarkable book. Dr. Bone shares her individual journey through cancer, starting with life before cancer followed by diagnosis, treatment and life as a survivor dealing with the uncertainty of recurrence. Melanie discusses the effect her illness had on her family and the changes she made in her life because of her experience. She also talks about end of life discussions and summarizes with helpful tips for friends and family members including the power of prayer. Dr. Cromie focuses on the spiritual aspects of the illness, giving us practical advice on how to overcome the fear of cancer and renew faith in the positive process of living. He reflects that while we must anticipate a struggle, we must also enjoy the life we have left and make each day count. Dr. Cromie recommends that we reach out for help from others, never giving up and putting our trust in God.
