Landscape Maps show, vividly, how unflat the state is; the scale ideal for showing local detail and regional features. -- Arizona Great Outdoors

Product Description

One of Benchmark’s best-selling titles, the Arizona Road & Recreation Atlas has been improved and refined throughout, with all-new Landscape Maps, an improved Recreation Guide and newly styled metropolitan maps of Phoenix and Tucson. The Landscape Maps feature the latest terrain data available from the US Geological Survey, resulting in images much sharper and more precise than previous editions. The Public Lands maps section have completely updated Game Management Unit and the Recreation Guide now has descriptive listings of parks and monuments, notable cities and towns and scenic attractions.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Than the Typical Atlas, June 2, 2004
By Chet Ragsdale (Avondale, AZ USA) - See all my reviews

You cannot go wrong with this atlas. I keep it in my truck permanently. Need to know terrain? Where to camp? Where to boat?
Looking for that wilderness area not on most maps or that small lake to fish? Well this guide has it! Very well detailed. I really like the topography maps. You can tell the mountains and there are many elevations listed and all the small towns you don't see on a highway map. If you are going anywhere in Arizona, and you think you might like to drive a back road, or if you get on one by mistake.....you won't get lost with this book. EXCELLENT!
UPDATE: 17FEB09....Revised and updated version now available

4.0 out of 5 stars What is that mountain range?, February 22, 2005

If you are a hiker or camper or backroader or are looking for a place to get away from it all, this atlas can certainly help. All major and minor mountain ranges are identified, and many of the roads that access those ranges can be found. Keep this book in your Jeep!

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Read, , July 14, 2006
By Joe D. "Joe D." (Olympia, WA) - See all my reviews
I've been using the Delorme maps for quite a while and I've always groaned that they're too busy, don't have regional maps, and that I couldn't get a quality sense of what really was there by the way the elevations were presented. I think I'm satisfied with the Benchmark maps. In a way, they seem like what I'd see if I looked at a satellite photo. The colors are very pleasing on the eyes, they have regional and national maps, and the recreation listings are on par or even better than those in Delorme. The representation of elevations is done with color, but there are limitations to this method, as in some instances several thousand feet of elevation are lumped together as one color. Benchmark is now my recreation atlas of choice--not the perfect all around atlas, but definitely closer to the goal.
