About the Author
John P. Kostuik, M.D., Chief, Orthopedic Spine Division
Lee H. Riley, III, M.D., received his M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins and was a fellow in spine surgery at the University of Miami. He is an associate professor of orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery and chief of the orthopedic spine division at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Suzanne M. Jan de Beur, M.D., received her M.D. from Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. She completed her internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and was an endocrinology fellow at Hopkins. Currently, she is director of endocrinology at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She has special clinical expertise in metabolic bone disease and brings this clinical perspective to her laboratory research on molecular determinants of osteomalacia, disorders of phosphate homeostasis, and parathyroid hormone resistance syndromes. She has published extensively in leading journals, such as The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.
