Editorial Reviews

Review
"'[infra]' is a book that should be read by other writers and by readers committed to good writing." -- Jerome Gold, author

"Dakron is a poet and the language of this novel is eroticised poetry married to story." -- Judith Roche, Ergo!

Product Description
Written in a charged, taut style, "infra" bridges the gap between entertainment and art. The casual reader will enjoy this novel for its characters and climaxes; the armchair critic will be drawn into its structure and highly crafted language. "infra" is guaranteed to surprise all tastes.

5.0 out of 5 stars is this for real?, May 6, 2008
granted, I only read the first two pages on [...], but that was more than enough for me. three lines in, and the point of view is already off ("ain't we gonna quit soon?" his friend asks, to which he responds "what?"-- if he's asking 'what' because he didn't hear him, then he can't possibly relay to us what his friend said in the first place)

even the punctuation is consistently incorrect.

"jesse laughed, newborn autumn slashing his pink misted lips, like some flamingo clown"

"Jesse flicking retinas over the road, salami black tar smoothing gelato pupils, he asked [...]"

like. ok. the words are fun and sound kind of neat, but you can't just pull out interesting words and smash them together and hope that it will mean something. i love White Oleander (Janet Fitch), and the insane similes and descriptions. but... these just don't make any sense.

on a positive note, I feel much more optimistic about someday being published!

5.0 out of 5 stars Happily Sucked into the alter "Infra" Reality, April 27, 2008
Totally digging it. The pacing, the mystery - not just the plot, but the emotions and perceptions of the protagonist. Palpable texture and raw poetic phrasing. Rod Dakron has bona fide style. Infra is a great escape for all senses.
