Midwest Book Review
The economic policies behind the boom experienced by Chile in the 190s under the military dictatorship Pinochet, and continuing today, are widely touted as a model for the Third World. The authors take a closer look at the Chilean experience where they encounter the downside of the model: chronic poverty and environmental devastation. Chile's Free-Market Miracle is important reading, especially now, in light of Chile's application to join with NAFTA.
