Editorial Reviews

From Scientific American
...an amazing new book by the two-time national champion Eddie Robin.

The book is big - it measures nine by eleven inches and has 340 pages and is beautifully bound and printed on high-quality paper. The book contains the mind-boggling total of 620 precisely-drawn diagrams, each one 21/4 (inches) wide and 4/14 (inches) long.

...a well-made limited edition book, full of information available nowhere else.

Position Play in Three Cushion Billiards is a remarkable effort by a man who has dedicated himself to billiards...

Review
A long unfilled vacuum in American three-cushion billiard play has been met head-on with a detailed and well illustrated book on position play published recently by Eddie Robin well-known and top-ranked billiard competitor.

What strikes the reader leafing through the book for the first time is the immense number of hours that the author spent in preparing this much-needed volume on three-cushion billiard position play. Robin is to be highly commended for his herculean efforts, his ardent dedication to the gentlemen's game, and to his evident, sincere desire to improve the caliber of American billiard play.

His book, in one massive dose, unlocks the secrets of position play known only to a few of the great cue artists of past decades. The book by Robin... will advance the game of three-cushion billiards to the highest plateau since its inception in the last century.

Robin's volume on position play will be a boom to American players, the majority of whom are sadly deficient in that area when compared to top players overseas in Europe, Japan and South America.

High-grade paper stock, heavy-duty vinyl binding, and numerous excellent photographs of the world's leading three-cushion players competing at recent world tournaments add a touch of class to Robin's book.

In this writer's opinion and as a high-ranking American player of many years standing, I believe the...(book), if coupled with more frequent American tournaments and increased prize money, will boost scores of averages in this country to the 1.0 to 1.4 range.

In conclusion, Robin deserves the heartfelt thanks of the American three-cushion billiard community. His book on position play may well be the catalyst that will launch a George Ashby, Carlos Hallon or Luise Campos to the heights of a world championship in the not-too-distant future. -- The National Billiard News.

5.0 out of 5 stars Position play in 3 cushion billiards, July 3, 2000
An excellent book for the player who already knows the basics of the game. It enables him to perform excellent shots and make high runs. When you first look at the book you feel you already knew, the shots had to be played in the way shown. Unfortunately you realise that if you never had the chance to read this book you would not think about it during the game. Eddie Robin clearly demonstrates his skill not only as a player but also as a great instructor. Probably the most important book for anyone who takes three cushion billiards seriously
