Product Description
This is the long-awaited, expanded, redesigned, reader-friendly Second Edition of the best-selling, critically acclaimed first book describing the language link between mind and body. This Second Edition contains 100 extra pages of information plus an extensive resource list, index and instructions for 53 self-help experiences.

Watch what you say! is not just a phrase for the children in your life. This book thoroughly examines the link between language and disease. Levine teaches "Verbal Hygiene" to avoid dis-easing language that sabotages wellness. She traces common phrases like "that breaks my heart" and "it's a pain in the butt" to the underlying beliefs on which they are based and the symptoms they cause. Readers learn to decode physical sensations and discover their underlying Core Beliefs and Seedthoughts.

Levine writes from her own experience having brain surgery to remove a tumor AND includes information from experts in psychology, religion and medicine plus an article by Bernie Siegel on Dreams And Drawings. Levine shows that our physical symptoms may result from using dis-easing language. AND she teaches readers how to use language to EASE symptoms and improve their health and well-being. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Guide to Getting Control of Your Own Health, December 15, 2003
By A Customer
"Watch what you say" is a primary message of Barbara Levine's groundbreaking book. She uses many real life situations to illustrate how our words can affect our health. Grounded and practical, she begins with her own dramatic story of healing from a brain tumor, and the lessons it taught her. It led her into an investigation of what makes people well and ill, and to look at the many scientific studies that show the link between language and disease. What I particularly like about this book is that it shows us the things that are entirely under our own control when it comes to our health; those things that are inside our own heads, and how we can take control of that aspect of ourselves to dramatically increase our level of well-being. As a practical tool for getting to the roots of what ails you, and making a shift, it's hard to imagine a better book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Journey to awareness, August 24, 2001
By Chrissie Blaze (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews
There is much more to this book than meets the eye. It is an important guidebook for life. If we look back over our life we will see that many problems were caused by misplaced words. Words expressed at the wrong time in the wrong way. If we look honestly it becomes apparent that through our expression, we help chart our course in life. We KNOW the words we speak are important. However, Barbara Levine gives us graphic examples of just how important they really are. How they affect our physical, mental and spiritual health. This book is more than just a study, it is a practical workbook toward greater awareness. If we apply the techniques in this book we will become more conscious of everything we say, and everything we do. We will become people who speak and act from a position of strength, rather than ones who react hastily from a position of weakness. It is a guidebook towards self-mastery, and therefore an important book for everyone's bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and heartfelt -- a worthy read., December 14, 2003
By A Customer
Look before you leap. Think before you speak. No one makes a stronger argument for this imperative wisdom than author Barbara Hoberman Levine in the revised edition of Your Body Believes Every Word You Say.

There is nothing magical about the notion that what we believe we can achieve. Cognitive therapists have used this principal and the power of the mind with great success for decades. A similar and powerful premise is made here in Levine's book, where the importance of our expressions and words easily translate to the physical body.

There is nothing startling or difficult to digest about this concept. It is pure logic at work. Through countless clear examples, Levine lets us see for ourselves the immense power of words and how to turn our language around to benefit our mind, body and soul.

As often happens in life, we learn volumes of wisdom from difficult obstacles. Levine's own physical challenges taught her about the power of the mind-body connection and how one can easily live a more productive and positive life with the benefits of good health. Not only does Levine shares her pearls of wisdom with clear examples from her own experiences, but she offers powerful healing techniques that can easily be utilized by others. Exercises are offered to enhance what is learned in each chapter. Practical tools and heartfelt wisdom -- what more could you ask for from a publication? This book is highly recommended.
