This guide offers over 180 dayhikes at 62 areas across the Bluegrass State, from the Appalachian Plateau to the Mis- sissippi Valley. The hikes were chosen to illustrate the rich diversity of flora, fauna, geology and scenic beauty that characterizes the Commonwealth of Kentucky. For each hiking area, the following information is provided: trail information, maps, photos, a narrative des- cribing the natural and historic features of the area and concise directions to the area from nearby cities or high- ways. Appendix I provides a synopsis of Kentucky's natural his- tory and Appendix II lists regional conservation organiza- tions that work to protect the State's natural history.
About the Author
Darcy & Robert Folzenlogen are physicians, naturalists and authors of eight outdoor guides. All of their books are dedicated to the themes of open space protection, historic preservation and wildlife conser- vation.
