Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Is society ready for men who openly express femininity? Can men transcend gender lines and maintain their sense of self-worth and dignity? These are the questions asked to over 850 crossdressers worldwide in a survey used as the basis of this book.

From an early age boys are taught to follow the stereotypes of maleness. When the inner desire to express femininity exerts a greater force than the desire to live up to the appropriate image for masculinity, conflict may develop. This provocative book addresses these conflicts and provides solutions.

From the Publisher
This book continues where Dr. Rudd's first book, My Husband Wears My Clothes, ended. Society places the crossdresser in a defensive position. The crossdresser frequently experiences many feelings of guilt because of his love of the feminine. Am I gay? Do I want to become a woman? These are many of the questions asked by the crossdresser who is seeking answers. Is it possible to be a crossdresser and maintain a sense of dignity. This book may answer many of the questions asked by the crossdresser, the significant persons in their life and helping professionals. The end result should be a personal growth which leads to self-fulfillment and acceptance.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book helped me find myself!, October 24, 1999
By A Customer
After reading Dr. Rudd's wonderful first book, My Husband Wears My Clothes, I was eager to read her second book, Crossdressing With Dignity. I was not disappointed. This book gave me the answers I was seeking about the fears and guilt feelings I had experienced most of my life when I admitted to myself and others that I was a crossdresser. After reading this book which describes over 800 crossdressers like me, I know I am not alone and I am an OK person. In fact I learned I may have found the best of both sides of my personality, the femininity I love and the masculinity that provides balance in my life. Thank you Dr. Rudd for writing this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, February 16, 2005
By Samantha A. Perrin (Ottawa, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book represents the collective input from more than eight hundred crossdressers. The Case for Transcending Gender Lines paves the path for crossdressers as they enter a hostile world. Emotions such as fear and guilt are addressed in detail. Each chapter is a "stand alone" work, but each relates to the overall theme of the book, the development of an inner feeling of self-dignity. Dr. Rudd asserts that self-acceptance comes before all else and that without it self-dignity is impossible to achieve.

Negative feelings are addressed: denial, hostility, fear and guilt. Dealing with these is seen as a primary concern, for until they are addressed and replaced with positive feelings progress cannot be achieved. "Tools" to help the crossdresser break out of his self-imposed prison are presented with clarity. Relationships within the family are explored in detail, and a short dissertation on "How To Tell Your Wife" is included. Chapter Nine, on self-acceptance, is most thought provoking, ending with a thirteen step guide to reaching that level of self-acceptance so necessary for stability and growth. If you only choose one chapter to read, in my opinion this one must be it. Chapter Eleven, which is really the last chapter of the book for the average reader, ends with a beautiful poem which you can read here.

Chapter Twelve is basically for the statistically inclined. Here, in detail, are the charts and tables resultant from the over eight hundred replies to Dr. Judd's questionnaire.

Despite a few editing typos, this book is a good read, well worth the time. Take chapters one at a time and really think about them. I recommend this book to all crossdressers and their loved ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crossdressing with dignity: The case for transending gender lines, June 12, 2007
I found this book to be very informative about the subject at hand. I have been seeking information about crossdressing and ways to inform the public that crossdressers are not sick perverted individuals as some might think. We are human just as much as any boby else. If folks would take the time to read this type of book maybe they would be able to understand that we mean no harm. We enjoy dressing as women and have a lot of fun doing so. In my way of thinking we should be able to get along as a community and not have the weird ideas that people have about crossdressers in general.I plan on purchasing more of the same type of book. It was a very good book and I really enjoyed it.
