From the Author
My first attempt at the Double Wedding Ring was a wall hanging about 30" square, just four blocks. My wife had a Double Wedding Ring book that I followed. I carefully traced the patterns and made very accurate templates and was able to successfully hand-piece my first Double Wedding Ring, but it took a lot of time to make, cut and hand-sew all of those little pieces. I worked on the Double Wedding Ring off and on for the next three years, trying to figure out an easier way to piece.
It wasn't until December 1988 that I discovered the secret to my simplified piecing method for the traditional Double Wedding Ring. I patterned my first template set, the 15" ring, after my wife's great aunt Laura's Double Wedding Ring quilt.
