About the Author
Richard Mangum was born in Flagstaff. After attending local schools, he received a law degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson and returned to Flagstaff to practice law. He became a Superior Court Judge in 1976. He retired from the judgeship in 1993 to devote full time to writing. From his childhood Dick has been fascinated by the history of Flagstaff, reading with enthusiasm all the historical materials he could locate and drawing upon the recollections of his late father, H. Karl Mangum, who moved to Flagstaff in 1931. Sherry Mangum came to Flagstaff when she was seven years old and has been interested in Flagstaff history since whe was a child. Her parents were professional photographers who took her on many trips around the area, and she developed an appreciation of the Flagstaff landscape and its history.

This award-winning team research and produce their books together. Through their famous guides and histories (nine to date) of northern Arizona, the Mangums have gained a reputation for producing books that are clear, user-friendly and reliable.
