5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting for everyone, November 20, 2006
I met Eugene R. Hart recently at Coloma, where he had a slide presentation and a book signing. I was so impressed by his slideshow and narrative that I bought a copy and had him sign it. I've found the book to be very interesting, especially the historical coverage of each Gold Rush town (which would make it fun to take on our next road trip) and it keeps my children intertained as well, since there are fun quizes and quick facts throughout. The book is seemingly a novel/travel guide, as well as educational and informative. It's never dry, and as a person/family/teacher wanting to learn more about the period in a nice, well rounded package, this is your book! I hope to see Mr. Hart perform again now that my favorite historian on the Gold Rush (J.S. Holliday) has passed on.
