About the Author
Karyn Mitchell is a Naturopathic Doctor with a Ph.D. in Psychology. She attended the University of Iowa, The University of Nebraska, Loras College, Buena Vista College, Midwest University and Westbrook. She is an international teacher and speaker in the fields of Reiki, Hypnotherapy, Vegetarian Lifestyle, Meditation, Natural Medicine and Shamanism. She has been a student of Psychology, Metaphysics, Religion, and Philosophy for over thirty years. She is a member of the American Naturopathic Medical Association. She has taken the Five Mindfullness Trainings with Master Thich Nhat Hanh, a Buddist Monk of the Zen tradition, as has taken initiations and studied with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Also, Karyn ia a grduate of the Silva Method, and has studied Shamanism with Michael Harner and Sandra Ingerman. She has studied other cultural dimensioins of shamanism in other countries and from other instructors. She is a medical intuitive and mystic dedicated to sharing the spirit of comapssion and love for people, animals, plants, and minerals.

She is a Holistic counselor and a Certified Reiki Master-Teacher of the Usui Shiki Ryoho School of Reiki. She is certified through the American Board of Hypnotherapy as an Instructor of Metaphysical Hypnotherapy, and is an instructor certified by the International Medical Dental Hypnotherapy Association, and the American Association of Behavioral Therapists. Karyn holds further certification from the National Association for Transpersonal Psychology in the areas of Clinical Hypnotherapy, Transpersonal Therapy, Analytical Hypnotherapy, and Past Life Regression Therapy. She and her husband, Steve Mitchell, have cofounded A.R.T., the Association for Regression Therapists and "Reiki Path Empowerment" School of Reiki Instruction. They have both devoted their life's work to assisting others with their spiritual growth. Karyn maintains an office at Haven Holistic Center in St. Charles, Illinois and works as a Holistic Counselor, Naturopath, Reiki Practitioner, Teacher, and Regression Therapist. She has taught at three Universities in the United States. Her personal Spiritual philosophy is to guide students and clients to a place of personal awareness and empowerment.

In "Reiki Mystery School" Karyn Mitchell delves deeply into the healing art of Reiki and related mysteries. Written from the heart, and building on the wisdom revealed in her previous two books "Beyond the Usui System" and "Reiki: A Torch in Daylight", this book contains much more than the mere descriptions found in most Reiki books. A superb and well-written book for anyone on the path. Highly recommended.

I expected that this book was a compilation of Reiki meditational techniques that were derived from the traditional Reiki and dealt with expanding consciousness. I was wrong. This book is yet another personal adaptation of Reiki by a Western Practitioner with a trademark and copyright symbol.The quality of the information is only fair and the presentation of the book is a sub-standard printing. I would not recommend this book to a serious Reiki student.
