4.0 out of 5 stars A much-needed book for children of open adoption, March 2, 1999
By A Customer
As closed adoptions become a thing of the past (and good riddance), books like Pugnose will be more and more needed for the children of open adoption. The only thing that could improve this cute book is more readable type. The illustrations are precious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a children's book with open adoption in it!!, August 16, 2001
By P. Henderson (Amherst, NY United States) - See all my reviews
Most children's books about adoption ignore the birth parents and the child's origins...(as if the child came from outerspace!)...but not this one. The book is great! The pictures are cute...the story is simple and easy to understand. The author does a great job writing a little adoption story in which all the "mice" are involved in an open adoption. I gave a copy of this book to my birthchild's new adopted brother. I also bought a copy for my soon-to-be born baby to help her grow up understanding what open adoption is and why she has a sibling who doesn't live with her. I'd love to see more children's books like this! This book is not hard covered...I really wish a hard cover version was available.
