Product Description

SoulCollage™ is a process through which you contact your intuition and create an incredible deck of cards which have deep personal meaning and which will help you with life's questions.

Following the simple SoulCollage directions, your hands move fragments of cut-out magazine pictures around, fitting them together in a surprising new way and gluing them down on a card. Cards containing the images you select — or the images that select you — come straight through your Soul, bypassing the mind.

This is a multi-leveled, creative process which anyone can do. All you need is a good pair of scissors, pre-cut mat board cards, glue, and images you can cut out from magazines, greeting cards, personal photos, postcards, catalogues, and calendars. It is wonderful to have other people with whom to share the process. The cards are fun to take to a friend's house, to work with in therapy or support groups, or to keep on your coffee table.

4.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous Concept, May 20, 2003
By Ruth Edlund "dark goddess of replevin" (King County, Washington:) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This entire book has a single great idea--the use of collage as a potent personal growth tool.

The author describes a college process leading up to the creation of a personal deck of cards consisting of four categories:

--Committee (aspects of the self, such as Inner Critic, Good Little Girl, Drama Queen, you name it
--Community (persons of significance in the life of the persons making the card, whether personal friends or persons of inspiration from history)
--Companion (totemic figures representing chakra forces); and
--Council (archetypical figures such as Death, the Warrior, and other larger forces in one's life).

The process of collecting images to assemble the cards, and working with the cards after making with them in a divinatory or reflective way, provides a way to access one's own inner wisdom while bypassing the verbal part of one's mind. Because the cards are assembled from images that have personal resonance, the deck can have an impact that no purchased tarot cards ever could.

A very interesting way of making powerful personal art of especial interest to those who have no technical training in art.

5.0 out of 5 stars POWERFUL PROCESS FOR SELF DISCOVERY AND EXPRESSION, September 5, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had to have this book. I have checked it out from the library, until I can check it out no more! Making soulcards is something that I would use with myself, my children, as well as my spiritual direction clients. It offers a way to reveal one's self that no other divination tool, spiritual tool, or self discovery tool can match. It is a lifelong process that is sure to be of benefit to anyone that tries it. Using the artistic/visual technique of soul cards, it bypasses the rational left brain to get at what we are really thinking, feeling, intuiting, etc.. We can't choke the flow with this tool! It is a meditative, creative process that can be done in groups or alone. I could see myself using this with a women's empowerment group, spiritual group, or for children. Kids often don't have all the words to say how they feel, and this is a way for them to express it, and have those that care for them "get it." Love the book, love the process! Treat yourself and get this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tarot Deck of the Collective Unconscious: soulcollage.com, April 15, 2005
Little could I have imagined when I signed up for my first SoulCollage workshop in February 2004 how my life was about to unfold in dimension and possibility. More than 100 SoulCollage cards and certification as a trained facilitator later, I reflect upon the sacred impact this particular method of SoulCollage has had upon my life in just a little over a year. Collage for the soul as a healing tool in itself has been offered in many forms. The SoulCollage process and book issue from a magical mix of spirituality, psychotherapy and creativity. The strength of Seena's method is also threefold: (1) SoulCollage was birthed from the wombspace of Seena's compassion and experiences as a woman, daughter, mother, minister and psychotherapist. (2) The method is flexible, providing structure in which to create your own version of a Tarot deck or fluidity to vary from Seena's directions and make the process your own. One Christian facilitator, for example, collages individual prayer cards undifferentiated by suits. (3) An unassuming invitation to explore your personal relationship with and understanding and experience of sacred mystery is present.

Within months of my first workshop, my life dramatically shifted, with an unexpected twist on the empty-nest syndrome that has remained big for me. Despite long-established, ongoing and beneficial relationships with my own psychologist and spiritual director, it was SoulCollage that facilitated my greatest healing by walking me through my bereavement. I like and continue to use the method as outlined in Seena's book. Collaging in this way not only provides unique perspective on my day-to-day experience, but the images and meanings of each card collaged adds a depth of clarity to my work with my professional helpers--as well as those with whom I work in that capacity. In the spirit of Clarissa Pinkola Estes' "Women Who Run With the Wolves," I collaged a range of pieces of myself that had been without voice for much of my life. The discipline of journaling was always rewarded with long-buried "aha's"--if not immediately, certainly within days--in proportion to the time and space I was willing to commit to discerning my inner knowing. The method Seena has created (the healing effects of which have been borne out by a group of now more than 160 trained male and female facilitators worldwide) invites conversation with one's soul. The pace of collaging images is individual, as is the journaling. Seena's method provides the foundation and freedom to create a truly unique gift in the way that speaks to you alone.
