He has studied the developing brain and early stimulation for over 12 years but it was becoming the founding medical director of Florida's first treatment center for teenage girls ages at level 8 that became the final driving force to publish his work in Brilliant Babies, Powerful Adults. Level 8 is the step right before the adult prison system. The center was for girls ages 13 to 18 who committed repetitive crimes including running crack houses, auto theft, grand theft, assault and battery, prostitution ect. This was the first treament center created and after seeing the devastation of the lack of early stimulation and poor parenting with low IQ's, self worth and self esteem Dr. Mike published his book.

Dr. John Mike before deciding to focus all his energy into early brain stimulation was the founding Medical Director of Global Holistic Medical Center, and the Medical Director of Twigbenders Day Treatment Centers the largest day treament for severely behaviorly disturbed children ages 18 months to 6 years of life in Florida. He was also the consulting Child Psychiatrist for Family Service Center which is the largest provider of counceling to sexually abused children in Pinellas County Florida.
He is married and his wife is currently pregnant with their first child.
