5.0 out of 5 stars A clear introduction to numerical methods using MathCad, February 5, 2001
By A Customer
The book is well suited for a basic one-semester course on numerical methods. It could be adopted for an undergraduate level engineering class. In fact, the spectrum of problems solved is broad, ranging from statics and mechanics of materials to dynamics, and embraces the fundamental engineering undergraduate courses. After the introduction of computational tools for solving linear and non-linear algebraic equations, and ordinary differential equations, the author describes techniques of numerical differentiation, integration, regression analysis, and interpolation. The book is clearly written and illustrated so that the student can understand the basic concepts that then lead to more difficult ones. The MathCad program is user friendly, and constitutes a complete math package. The book is provided with a solution manual for instructors. I suggest consideration of this book for instructors teaching a first numerical methods course.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book for a fresh engineering student, October 30, 2000
By A Customer
I think this is a pretty good book for a fresh engineering student. Chapters like Matrices and Linear Algebra, Numerical Interpolation, Numerical Differentiation etc. are very well explained. Note: If Appendix would have been there including formulas, abbreviations & definitions then that will surely help as a quick reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good solid introduction to Numerical Methods via MathCad, October 21, 2000
By A Customer
This book offers a good solid introduction to the use of Numerical Methods in the solution of engineering problems via Mathcad. I would certainly recommend this book for a first course in Numerical Methods. It can also be quite useful to practising engineers who use Mathcad.

Everything about this book is large, the page size, the borders, the font size, the space between equations. However the content is lacking. Read more
