Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Longtime chiropractic promoter and practitioner Rondberg pitches this guidebook to the general public. He tells us about D. D. and B. J. Palmer, father and son, who discovered and built chiropractic, then outlines chiropractic principles and activities. Vertebral subluxation (misalignment of vertebrae), now usually called nerve interference, is, chiropractic maintains, the cause of most human ills. Chiropractors use X rays to identify this problem and correct it by adjustment (often called manipulation by laypersons). The body's innate intelligence is said to be its ruling force, and chiropractors assist its full use. Children, middle-aged, and elderly alike can benefit from chiropractic, which deserves a high place in health care because it concentrates on causes rather than effects or symptoms and is not expensive. Libraries should, however, accompany this book with Magner's Chiropractic. William Beatty

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond back pain. True health and wellness care, December 3, 1998
By A Customer
Chiropractors over the years have been limited to back pain "treatment" doctors (if doctors at all) Perhaps just another therapy procedure for back pain. Our bodies are broken and they need fixing. This is a mechanistic viewpoint embraced by our current health paradigm. We get sick, we look outside the body for drugs, medicines, herbs or something to change what is going on inside our bodies in hopes to overcome are bodies natural defenses of healing. Some Chiropractors also embrace this paradigm because it is widely accepted. This current paradigm is Crisis Care and cannot be called Health Care because this care does not make you healthy. The true paradigm of chiropractic is exactly opposite this. The body is Vitalistic and nature needs no help, just no interfence. Healing does not come from the outside in but begins from healing inside outward. Finding the cause of all the illnesses will always lead you back to the nerve system. The benefits of chiropractic care only begins will drug free pain relief. There are three truths to health and healing. 1) The body is a self healing self regulating organism, ie. if you cut your finger it will heal without the help of a bandaid, therefore "life force" or innate intelligence of the body heals. If you cut a cadavers finger (a dead person) the cut in the finger will not heal. 2) The master system of the body that controls and coordinates all function in the body is the nerve system (GRAYS ANATOMY), 3) If there is disruption, distress or interference within the nerve system the body will not be able to heal itself at 100%. Doctors of Chiropractic are the only doctor trained specifically to locate and correct interference (termed Vertebral Subluxation Complex) in the spinal column where the nerve system begins, and removes the nerve interferences with series of "adjustments" so the body can better heal it self at near 100%. The effects of "adjustments" to the nerve systems addresses full spectrum of disorders and diseases. Chiropractors DO NOT claim to cure any disease or disorder, but assists in reducing nerve interference, allowing the body the full potential to heal on its own. You cannot drug someone into health. Drugs only mask the underlying cause of all disease which always begins with a poorly functioning nerve system. It has stood the test of time, and millions of people for the last 103 years have enjoying optimal health through truely natural health care. Thank you Dr. Rhonberg for teaching us about where health comes from.
