Product Description

The ONLY book on Computerized Shipping Systems has finally been written.....again! INCLUDES FOUR NEW CHAPTERS AND NEW COMPANY CASE STUDY.

In today's intense business world, often only price and customer service set one company apart from another. Gaining a competitive advantage requires examining each aspect of a particular business operation anew, to determine where it might be improved. Computerized Shipping Systems: Increasing Profit and Productivity Through Technology outlines strategies by which companies can take control of their shipping rooms - and make money doing it!

Shipping Expert/Author Mark A. Taylor has now updated the first and only book on the subject for the new millennium. With information culled from his more than 25 years experience consulting for more than 10,000 operations.

In Computerized Shipping Systems, you will learn:

* How to turn the shipping room from a cost center into a profit center;
* How to increase shipping options while reducing costs;
* How to improve customer satisfaction;
* How to choose and purchase a computerized shipping system;
* Planning and preparation for controlling total costs;
* The inside story on what the carriers don't tell businesses; and
* The hidden power of managing information and systems, not just shipping packages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book that every shipping manager should read!, January 25, 2000
By A Customer
This book really explains what to look out for if you are in the market for a shipping system and how a carrier supplied shipping system can actually cost you money instead of saving it. Easy to read and easy to understand for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Required reading for any company that ships small packages!, July 29, 1998
By A Customer
This book was great. It was easy to read and made a new and sometimes complicated subject understandable. I would recommend this book to any person that has anything to do with the shipping process at their company. It is full of practical ideas that can make things easier and save the company money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not too technical, just very helpful,, May 16, 2005
Easy to read, easy to understand and extremely informative. Not only does this book appear to be a key resource for "industry types" but it's also a must read for any small or midsize business owner that ships on a regular basis. What business owners don't know can cost them money and Mark Taylor quickly provides the reader with the inside line on shipping pitfalls and best practices. This book will improve your business and save you money.
