Product Description
This is the untold and heroic story of the First Texas Legion, a Texas Confederate cavalry unit that had its beginning in 1861 in central Texas. Entering Confederate service in Arkansas, the Legion had its first battle in Indian Territory, then in Arkansas. It was one of 14 Texas cavalry regiments that had their horses sent back to Texas, when they were dismounted prior being sent across the Mississippi River to fight as infantry in Mississippi, to stop Grant's advance on Vicksburg. The book follows the Legion through four years of war.
