Product Description

The pristine trout ponds and lakes in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan are truly a unique resource. For the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is one of the few places in the continental United States where trout anglers can still find populations of native brook trout residing in cold, springfed ponds and lakes.

In Trout Ponds and Lakes in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, trout anglers will travel the backcountry of this often forgotten land in search of stillwater trout. Not only will anglers receive an overview of the varieties of trout ponds and lakes in the U.P. but also a look at the trout species that inhabit these waters. Detailed information on tackle, equipment, and strategies are provided with an in-depth look at the most common food sources the angler will need to imitate. Finally, anglers will find a diverse selection of trout ponds and lakes to choose from followed by a complete listing of all the Department of Natural Resources designated trout ponds and lakes in the Upper Peninsula.

Most of this book is devoted to general history and the basics of trout fishing, which is only of value to the novice. The "meat" of the book - actual information about selected ponds and lakes, comprises only approximately a third of the volume.

Hopefully, the author will have more to share with us in a future edition.
