Editorial Reviews
Book Description
Mendocino County in northwestern California has long been a haven for poetry and the arts. This enticing, moving book collects works by 63 distinctive voices of rich and varied emotional tone. Some of the better known poets included are Sharon Doubiago, ruth weiss, Julia Butterfly Hill, Jane Reichhold, Cynthia Frank, Karin Faulkner, Devreaux Baker, Bobby Markels, Theresa Whitehill, Fionna Perkins and Lydia Rand. The poets, ranging in age from 14 to 88, present works arising from the spirit of place that explores intimate personal experience, resulting in a fascinating tapestry of rural lives

About the Author
The book includes a biography of each of the 63 poets.

Sharon Doubiago is the author of three book-length poems, Hard Country, South America Mi Hija (nominated twice for the National Book Award), and the Husband Arcane, The Arcane of O (Gorda Plate Press, 1996). Her collection of poems Psyche Drives the Coast won the Oregon Book Award in 1991.. Her two wonderful collections of short stories, The Book of Seeing With One's Own Eyes and El Nino, are both in their second printings. The poems included in this book are from a newer book, Body and Soul. She considers the entire west coast her home, with Mendocino as base.
