When Lorrin passed away in 1993,a good amount of the direct line to the heritage and charm of California surfing could have passed with him, It is our good fortune that his daughter Rose, sought to write a personal memoir of growing up with Dad, a surfing family's version of Life with Father. This is a charmingly crafted little book, full of endearing period photos and tales.
From the Inside Flap
Lorrin "Whitey" Harrison was a surfer. You may have seen him in 1993 on the ArmorAll television commercial where he appears strumming his ukelele and singing. Laughing, he introduces himself then proceeds to surf his way through the rest of the segment before he drives off in a red sports car. A portion of this commercial was aired on national news when he died abruptly the same year at 80 years old. The public was captivated by this lively little old man in a palm frond hat.
