Navidad Latinoamericana, Latin American Christmas, is a multicultural, bilingual Spanish-English book, with CD, on the Christmas traditions in Latin American countries. The second edition includes the Christmas traditions of 25 Latin American countries, a CD recording of the 12 most popular Christmas carols in both traditional and contemporary styles, the lyrics to all the carols, and the Nine Days of Christmas prayers authored by Marco Vinicio Rueda, SJ. It is a quality 88-page hardback book beautifully illustrated in color with original artwork by the Ecuadorian artist Fernando Reinoso.

It is completely bilingual so that nonSpanish- and Spanish-speaking readers may enjoy it. It is a valuable tool for English-as-a-Second-Language and Spanish language education.

Navidad Latinoamericana, Latin American Christmas was warmly reviewed in last year's 19 December issue of The National Catholic Reporter which included a front cover color reproduction of one of the illustrations from the book.

Pasa el tiempo, de generación en generación, vamos cambiando, adoptando nuevas costumbres, olvidamos algunas. En Navidad Latinoamericana encontramos aquellas 'joyas' que relacionamos muchas veces con nuestro pasado, un pasado feliz, inocente, en familia, con la calidez de aquella época navideña, tan llena de misterio, de espectativa y de amor. Un hermoso regalo para aquellos a quienes apreciamos....una ilusión, una fantasía y alegría hechas imagen y sonido.

Charito Calvacci Wakefield's "Navidad Latino Americana" is a lush compendium of celebration and community. The descriptive thread of food, fellowship and tradition that binds young and old, rich and poor on this most revered of all holidays is accompanied by a CD of Christmas songs. This is the kind of book that becomes part of a family's library, to be taken down each year, appreciated and cherished.

Navidad Latinoamerica is a classic in its own right. It is so comprehensive in its collection of Latin American cultural stories, that it will no doubt be used as a historical reference or source for its subject matter in the future. Navidad Latinoamerica is more valuable because it is written in its native tongue, Spanish, and conveniently has the English translation of the Christmas stories beside it. Most valuable of all is the artwork, each page of which can stand on its own, which makes the flow of the stories so real. The depiction of the Christmas story with a Latin American flavor is beautifully accomplished. I cannot express how valuable such a book is in today's world where cultures meld from border to border. Every home and public library should have such a valuable book on its shelf.
