Orunmila has spoken, please listen carefully!, April 16, 1999
By A Customer
This book, Ijo Orunmila by Babalawo Fasina Falade, is such a blessing and treasure. I highly recommend it for not only us (Ifa devotees) seeking knowledge and truth, but those interested in a traditional African belief system. I whole-heartidly appreciate the way that Baba Fasina has taken time out to explain in detail everyday terms that we use, but probably never knew or understood the true meaning of, such as: Olorun, Iwa, Otito, and Suuru, just to name a few. What's good about this book, besides the sections on Oriki, the Odu's, Libation, etc., which we use in daily worship, are how he correlates it all together as the beautiful and spiritual tradition we know as Ifa. Each section is insightful and in my honest opinion, dispells any mis-conception on how our tradition is perceived or practiced. Baba, adupe pupo (thank you very much) for hearing the call and answering it by writing such a wonderful and inspirational oracle. One would do themselves an injustice NOT to have Ijo Orunmila in their collection.

Good content for introduction. Poor Editing, January 25, 2000
Baba Fasina Falade's content in this book makes a very good introduction to the Ifa faith. It sets the groundwork for further exploration and learning. In this manner, I feel this is an excellent compilation. I commend Fasina Falade for his work. Of equal value is the strong and enlightening forward by Adeosun Ifalade. The forward is effective in opening one's mind and building enthusiasm to read the rest of the book. The dissatisfaction I have with this book is in the editing. There are annoying typographical errors throughout the text. At times, these errors make reading somewhat difficult. This is the ONLY reason that I do not give this book a higher rating.

A must-read for the serious student of Ifa, May 16, 1999
By A Customer
The author of this book, A Babalawo and a Chief, makes the reader feel very comfortable taking in the knowledge and wisdom of this powerful spiritual tradition. The reader is introduced to the basics of Ifa, in a simple and unintimidating way. The profound beauty of this spiritual path comes across in every word, and leaves the reader hungering for more. At a time when every one is an expert and trying to cash in on the rapid growth of this spiritual tradition in the US, it is refreshing to see a seasoned, well taught and sincere priest and teacher come forth. Do read this book and do contact the author, who is very approachable, which is also very refreshing.
