"...an important message of cooperation...and an appreciation of the differences in others." -- --Joel Stone, New York City Educator

"Conveys an important message of cooperation, a recognition of one's own talents…and an appreciation of differences in others." -- Joel Stone, New York City Educator

"Kimberly Foster has created a world for children which radiates as much magic as The Hundred Acre Wood." -- Bruce Talkington, Double Emmy Award winning animation writer and author of numerous children's books including Disney's Winnie The Pooh's Christmas

Product Description
It's a magic day for Tina and her animals! Tina weaves a magic spell to escape her meddling baby brother. Her stuffed animals spring to life but the spell goes awry and now Dolphin is up a tree! Tina and her animals need to get Dolphin down in a hurry. Owl says "Fly!"
Fox howls "Walk!"
and Beaver builds! How will Tina and the animals learn to understand their differences?

"A Dolphin Up a Tree! is based on the author's experience with the Keirseyan Temperament popularized in the book Please Understand Me and Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. "During my early school years I knew I was different, not being good at math or sports, " says the author, Kimberly Foster. "The four animals, representing four human temperaments, learn they must coexist despite their differences."

5.0 out of 5 stars My 7 year-old loves it!, January 22, 2003
By A Customer
My boy asks to be read this book again and again. He loves to recognize the characters and clearly relates to Dolphin and her dilemma. This is fascinating to me, because each character defines a unique personality type -- and my son is definately a "dolphin." Perhaps he felt "stuck up a tree" when he first began attending school. This book is about teamwork and respect for others -- and I'm so pleased that he's learning these qualities while enjoying his favorite book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Imaginative and Perfect Timing..., December 9, 2002
By A Customer
This book has no better time to arrive than now. With people all over the world fighting, this book illustrates to children the power of collaboration and teamwork. The author uses century-old insights to convey a simple message---valuing different perspectives and including those perspectives is invaluable. I recommend this book to any educator--teacher, parent, or any adult---that wants to spread the message of valuing differences. It is truly needed if we are going to succeed as members of a global community in the 21st century.

5.0 out of 5 stars Education & Excitement, March 28, 2003
By "choppedsalad" (Van Nuys, CA United States) - See all my reviews
An excellent book to help children learn the importance of cooperation and tolerance. I think this book would be particularly helpful in a family with two or more children as it emphasizes the importance of getting along with your siblings. The book presents a wonderful opportunity for parents to discuss all of these topics. I highly recommend it.
