Editorial Reviews

About the Author
Kirt Stark was born and raised in a secluded, spooky little town near Ogden Utah. It was a remote little farming community, plagued with superstition. Every empty house had a legend of being haunted, and every long hallway was always lined with spooks. This was little more than fuel for the fire of Stark's burning imagination.

As Stark got older, he spent a couple of years living in Holland and Belgium, learning the languages and customs. When he returned, he earned a four-year degree in physics from Weber State University, which led him to think of himself as a bit of a 'mad scientist.'

Stark worked in the fields of physics and management, but never let go of his passion for the macabre. Ever since he was in grade school he would spend months preparing for his favorite holiday, Halloween, getting ready to frighten any trick-or-treater brave enough to stop by.

Always ready for an adventure, Stark enjoys camping, fishing, gold-panning, and treasure hunting. He also has a deep love for antique American coins, antique cars, and very old homes.

During a Halloween dance in college, dressed as a vampire, Stark met Jana, and for him it was love at first sight. For her, it took a few minutes to get over the awful trickle of blood streaming from Stark's mouth. But, not being one for wasting a lot of time, Stark proposed two weeks later, and that spring they were married.

Since then they have moved to Arizona, and they now have a young son, who often begs his father to tell scary stories at bedtime.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Fun" horror - not too bloody, but still shivers the spine., November 19, 1998
By A Customer
Many of the tales are wonderfully escapist, the author remembers what it was like to be young. Most of the main characters are children or young adults, with only the best qualities of adults. My favorite story takes place in a County Fair, always a frightening place for me, I may never go to one again. The only thing I disliked is that the author is too fond of happy endings, and occasionally this brought a great story to an awkward end. It is light entertainment, frightening without being a gross-out fest, it delivers gooseflesh as opposed to gory details of the murder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spooky!!!!!, September 30, 1999

This book has the spookiness of Stephen King - without the bad language! It was a frightful pleasure to read. Imaginative stories with twistful ends. Great for juveniles and adults. Must read if you like to be scared!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!, September 24, 1999

Just when you thought it was safe to go to bed with the lights out. Kirk has written a great book for a good scare. A welcomed fresh voice in the world of horror and suspence. Another good book I recommend is, Steward's--"Tales of Dirt, Danger, and Darkness."
