Editorial Reviews

Review
Traveling is an inventive and stirring coloring book which has the child in its mind, but the adult at its heart.

Children will enjoy coloring the Brazilian Firehouse or a sand Spit in Morrocoy, Venezuela. Tranum's pieces vary in detail, allowing all ages to participate. The representative pieces will appeal to children of all ages.

The eight abstract pieces will puzzle and delight the child and fascinate the adult. These inventive drawings explore the landscape and the two lovers within it: "Time in the Beach" is a wonderful mix of the liberating sun and the natural intertwining of bodies. The grace that Tranum treats the body with is best expressed in "Dancing," which combines both the flamboyant individual and the connection two people have, in a celebration of unity. This molding of two people and many cultures holds these travls together throughout the book.

Through lucid prose, Tranum achieves an innocent and touching sense of affection. His writing reminds us of the simplicity in love which is often lost in the fast, modern world. By choosing specific instances, Tranum unfolds a wonderful journey through the Americas with his "enamorada." -- Mark Peters

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, February 7, 2000
By Paul (Boston) - See all my reviews
This book delighted and enlightened me. Sam Tranum is a fantastic artist and his story is lovely as he goes through his adventures through S. America, and other places. My children love the book and I am a large fan of his work, having met him and reading his interesting works. I would recommed this book to anyone who loves good art or enjoys a good deal of creativity. Kudos to Sam Tranum!
