Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Laminated Spiral-Bound Hardcover, 11 pages, color, ages 1-8.

All About Me was written by two adoptive mothers, this simple, direct children's book was designed to be an invaluable tool for adoptive parents who wish to provide their young children an avenue for understanding the meaning of being adopted. When incorporated into a regular reading schedule, it provides consistent opportunities for parents and children to have open, frank and meaningful conversations about being adopted. Illustrated with wonderful, colorful art produced by adopted children, it encourages children to participate in the story by "filling in the blanks" using their crayons and washable markers. The large format is easy for young fingers to handle and it's washable, so the fun can happen over and over again!

All About Me has been accepted by Tapestry Books for their spring catalog and is being reviewed by several national adoption associations and organizations to be included on their suggested reading lists. The response to this book so far as been encouraging with enthusiatic reviews at an adoption conference in Hawaii and The Cradle on the mainland US. The Cradle is a well-established adoption agency through which Lynn Burwash and her twin sister where adopted as infants. In turn, Lynn has adopted Skylar, her three year old daughter through The Cradle.

About the Author
Lynn Burwash & Cie McMullin are middle-aged adoptive mothers who became fast friends while living in Hawaii over five years ago. They have many things in common, the two most important being their adopted children (Lynn has two and Cie has two) and a desire to help other adoptive parents to conquer the hurdles of living well as adoptive parents. They wrote ALL ABOUT ME in response to their realization that many adoptive parents fail to tell their children they are adopted because they don't know when or how to bring up the subject or start the conversation. Lynn & Cie plan future books and are looking forward to a favorable response to All About Me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo "All About Me", March 29, 2003
By Jodi McClain (Lake Oswego, OR USA) - See all my reviews
We love giving this beautiful, interactive book to our friends who are adopting children. As an adoptee, I appreciate the simple and friendly way the subject matter is addressed and especially the unique way of involving the children. We have been told more than once that this book has been the favorite gift received.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adopted Hubby, February 14, 2003
By A Customer
My husband and I read this book and thought it marvelous. You see, my husband was adopted and he thought it was very nice that someone would take the time and initiative to write a book like this. He said he wished it had been around when he was a kid. He also said that he thought this would be a very appropriate book to give to a child that had been adopted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific tool, February 12, 2003
By A Customer
I was delighted to discover this book. It is a terrific interactive tool that makes talking to young children about being adopted easy. I found the comparison between adopting a pet and adopting a child an analogy that helps very young children understand the concept of adoption. I highly recommend this book to any parent who has adopted young children.
