Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Heide AW Kaminski has 16 years of experience teaching preschool children and has created this book packed with art projects she has designed.

All activities have been tested and approved by children!

Each project carries an educational theme carefully crafted into the activity so children learn important skills while having a great time!

This is an essential book for all early childhood educators and is certain to enrich the lives of children everywhere!

About the Author
Heide AW Kaminski was born and raised in Germany. One year as an exchange student in Clinton, MI ultimately led to her permanent move to the USA in 1984. She has three children, Sarah, Angela and Tommy and a step daughter, Nikki. The author has 6 years of experience in public daycare and 6 years as the director of her own preschool. She has spent 4 years working with mentally impaired adults and 2 years as a special education assistant teacher. She has college credits in the early childhood field and is working on her substitute teacher certificate. She has also been working as a Sunday School teacher since 1992 and will not be ready to retire from that position for a long time.

Her first love goes to special needs children as she experiences Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and has a son with ADHD as well. She believes that ADHD contributes to her ability to think and act like a child herself, when needed. While still in Germany she had one collection of short stories for children published. She is a contributor to many anthologies and the author of a children’s picture book about ADHD. Heide writes on a regular basis for a local newspaper and a spiritual newsletter.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Personal Opinion and Recommendation to Parents., October 6, 2003
By Larry S. Mccrea (Pineville, S.C., USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Heide AW Kaminski has about 16 years of experience with preschool children and it surely shows. Her book is packed with fun and creative art projects that not only provide joy to the children making them, but also teach important skills in the process.
Each activity has an appropriate age level listed, materials needed and main skills addressed.
All projects are kid tested and approved and make the kid in you want to sit down and play yourself.
Any parent searching for a quality, educational and fun approach to learning for their small children should seriously consider purchasing a copy of this book. Any pre-school administrations and teachers would do well to add this publication to their list of specialized selections.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning really is FUN :o), February 6, 2004
I can honestly say Get Smart through Art is the most fun I've ever had while doing a book review! I can only imagine the upcoming generation of geniuses we'd have if every child were allowed to cultivate a love for the learning process--an off-shoot of using the full range of their creativity.

Kaminski's talent with children is obvious as one flips through the pages of this inspiring learning tool for tots. Fun art projects that teach and improve on motor and cognitive skills are well-organized with clear instructions and complete lists of items needed for each project. Easy to read pages and patterns in a spiral binding allow the book to lay flat for easy and accurate copies.

After I was satisfied that the book was well thought out and organized, I brought the book to a local daycare for some "hands on" experimenting with both the teacher and the preschoolers. One week later, the teacher confirmed what I already suspected-Heidi AW Kaminski should be required reading for all preschool educators.
