Book Description
This is an information rich program providing advice and tips on how to outfox professional thieves and protect your luggage, laptop, briefcase or purse while on the road. Suited to both leisure and business travelers, this program tells you how you can decrease your victim potential and reduce your chances of becoming a mark for professional thieves, pickpockets and con artists. It describes the latest scams that can occur in locations where there are many travelers are such as airports, taxi cabs, shuttle buses and even in public bathrooms!

It only takes a second to be distracted by what you think is a lost traveler, crying child or someone needing your aid or innocently asking you what time it is. While you're distracted by this "actor", another member of the distraction team has relieved you of your valuables. Did you know there are actual schools pickpockets attend to learn their craft and graduate from?

The tape is the only resource that thoroughly covers laptop theft prevention. The theft of laptops from travelers has grown every year. What use to be a thief's coveted prize several years ago was a high end 35 mm camera, five years ago it was the camcorder, today it's the laptop. They are easy to steal and easy to fence to a disreputable pawn shop or unsuspecting buyer who can't pass up a "good deal." This tape will provide the valuable information to keep your laptop in the right hands (yours) while on the road. In addition, the program also discusses all the aspects of luggage, from how dishonest baggage handlers easily open your luggage, to luggage locks and luggage insurance. You will hear an insider's point of view on soft sided vs. hard sided luggage as well as tips on choosing luggage locks and insurance. Do they work, and which ones are best? If you follow the advice the author offers you will travel with greater peace of mind knowing you've done your best to help both you and your property make it safely to your destination. . After you hear this program you will want to make sure your loved ones hear it too before their very next trip.

From the Publisher
This is the only book on the market that completely covers the topic of theft prevention while traveling. Unfortunately most travelers are concerned about falling victim to violent crimes while traveling but realistically, you have a much greater risk falling victim to a pickpocket than to a street robbery while traveling. Many travelers think of themselves as "Travel Wise" when it comes to avoiding crime while on the road. However, you will be surprised at what you learn. Without fail all of the frequent travelers who have listened to this tape told me that they learned something, and recommend listening to it before your next trip. From the high school graduate taking his or her first backpacking trip across Europe, or the serious road warrior who travels 100 times a year, you are guaranteed to learn something from Detective Coffey.

5.0 out of 5 stars No-nonsense Discussion of how to stay safe when travelling, May 24, 2000

When I opened the box and saw only 1 cassette I thought for a minute this was nothing more than an audio info-mercial to sell security items. Nothing could be further from the truth. The single 90-minute tape packs a wealth of information about personal and luggage security when traveling domestically and overseas (of course it is slanted towards an American audience). I've traveled extensively in my career and as a part-time tour guide in Europe and Russia. I'm pretty savvy about maintaing situational awareness, not being distracted etc. If you also are an experienced international traveller, you might know some of these hints as well; this tape is great as a refresher. If you don't travel often-well you DEFINITELY need to acquire a copy lest you become a victim. Highly recommended, especially for someone who is an infrequent traveller.
