Editorial Reviews

Review

"A powerful, wide-ranging anthology. One keeps turning pages until overwhelmed by the emotional impact. One is left with a mosaic-like impression of how profound and varied is the adoption experience." -- Fred Greenman, birth father and attorney, representing birth parents, adoptive parents and adoptees seeking access to records in Tennesee and Oregon

"In Touched by Adoption you enter the adoption experience from multiple vantage points...The heartfelt narratives, letters, and poems create a complex mosaic of adoption, conveying the love, loss, and creation that characterize it." -- Mary Watkins, Ph.D., co-author of Talking With Young Children About Adoption, adoptive mother of three internationally adopted children and Chair, Depth Psychology Ph.D. Program, Pacifica Graduate Institute

"This is the first collection of adoption prose and poetry that speaks with the voices of many cultures and from the viewpoints of all members of the adoption triad." -- Carol Biddle, Executive Director, Kinship Center California

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Collection of Adoption Stories, May 8, 2000
Ms. Robinson has amassed a large collection of work from 75 respected poets, authors and playwrights, all of whom have one thing in common--an adoption connection. Some, like the father of former basketball star Issac Berg, and myself, adopted children, many internationally. Others, like Paula Friedman of California, were birthparents. Still others were themselves adopted as children. It is a privilege to have my work included in this edition, whose writers hail from many racial and religious backgrounds, yet sing in chorus: We can all learn from one another, and from the adoption experience. Alyssa A. Lappen

5.0 out of 5 stars Touched by Adoption is a must read, November 25, 1999
By Lila (Austin, Texas) - See all my reviews
If you are looking for a poignant collection of stories, poems and letters about the adoption experience, look no further. TOUCHED BY ADOPTION is guaranteed to touch your soul.

Similar to the CHICKEN SOUP books in tone and texture, TOUCHED BY ADOPTION focuses on every possible angle of adoption. It is one of my favorite books, one I will read over and over.

As a published author, I am picky about the books I endorse. This emotion-packed anthology is well worth adding to your library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Alone, December 9, 1999
By Kevin Allen (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As the author of four poems in this anthology, I can now say that I don't feel alone anymore. Each poem, each story I read, I am compelled to read a second time. Every time I pick up this book, it feels like I'm picking up a part of my life. I recommend this book to anyone ready to delve into the heart of adoption.
